How is rental assistance paid?
On the last working day of each month, your assistance is paid through direct deposit to your account and/or your landlord’s account.
What if I haven’t filed an income tax return?
To be eligible for the programs we offer, you or your spouse should file a tax return.
My minor child (under the age of 18) has a part-time job. Do I need to declare their income?
No. We base the assistance we provide on the income of household members over the age of 18 such as you or your spouse.
How will I know the status of my Rental Assistance Services application?
One of our representatives will get in touch with you.
What happens if my income changes?
We base the calculations of your assistance on your income from the previous year. On your next income tax return, the changes from your income will affect the amount of assistance you’ll receive in the future.
What happens if I move or my rent changes?
Inform our team immediately so we can make necessary changes and adjustments to your file and assistance. If you move outside of Grimsby, ON, you will no longer be eligible for the program.

We review qualifying households on an annual basis. The assistance we provide depends on the available budget we have.
